1. Who we are

Start-Manager Inc. makes access control and OSHA safety check compliance devices for forklifts and other industrial equipment. Our website address is https://start-manager.com. You can reach us at 1-800-674-9320 or sales@start-manager.com.

2. What we collect

We collect what you choose to send us — through one of two forms on this website, or when you place an order — and a simple count of the pages visited.

• Contact Request Form. Your first and last name, whether you are an end user or a dealer, your email address, your phone number if you give one, what you would like help with, and your message. If you ask for a fleet quote, you may also give your company name and how many vehicles you run.
• Online demo booking. Your first and last name, company, email address, your phone number and number of vehicles if you give them, the equipment you want to control, anything you tell us in the notes, and the date and time you select.
• Pages visited. Which page was opened and when, whether it was the first page of your visit, the name of the website you arrived from if you followed a link (the site, not the page), the campaign name if the link you followed was one of our own adverts or mailings, whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and the country your connection is in. This is described in section 6 and identifies nobody.

We do not ask for payment card details on this website, and there are no user accounts or comments for visitors to sign up for. The customer support area opens with a password we give to our customers; it does not ask who you are.

3. When you place an order

If you buy from this website we record the order so we can fulfil it and keep proper business records. That record holds your name, email address and telephone number, your billing and delivery addresses, what you bought and what you paid, including freight, any import tariff and any tax.

When you go from the cart to the payment page, we note what was in your cart, the country you are shipping to and the totals, with Stripe's reference for that payment page. This is recorded whether or not you finish paying, so we can see how many orders are started and not completed. It does not include your name or other contact details.

If you type your email address on the payment page and then leave without paying, the page closes after an hour and we send you one email with a link back to your order. We keep that email address with the record of your unfinished order, so that we never send you more than one such email in a week and none at all if you have since ordered. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link; once you use it we will not send you another.

Your card details are never seen by this website. Payment is handled by Stripe, who take your card details on their own secure page and tell us only whether the payment succeeded, along with a reference we can use if you need a refund. Stripe also works out any tax due from your delivery address. Stripe handles this information as an independent business and under their own privacy policy.

We keep order records for seven years, because tax and accounting rules require us to keep records of what we have sold. Order details are also entered into our accounting system for the same reason. This is the one part of your information we cannot delete on request while we are still obliged to hold it.

4. Why we collect it

We use what you send us to answer your question, prepare a quote, arrange and run your demo, or fulfil your order, and to follow up with you about it. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and no automated decision is made about you.

5. How it reaches us

When you submit a form, a copy is saved in this website's own database, and its contents are then emailed to our sales address by an email delivery service and kept in our email system. Saving it first means an enquiry is never lost to a failed email. We do not publish what you send us, and we do not add you to a marketing list without your agreement.

Enquiries, demo bookings, orders and the page counts can only be seen by named members of our staff, each signing in with their own account, so access can be withdrawn from any one person without affecting anyone else. They are not visible to the public or to other customers.

6. Cookies, analytics and your browser

This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use third-party analytics or social media tracking.

We do count how many times each page is opened, and how many different visitors there were each day, using our own software on our own database. No cookie is set to do it and nothing is shared with anyone. We do not store your IP address: it is combined with your browser's description and today's date, scrambled into a short code that cannot be turned back into any of them, and only that code is kept. Because the date goes into it, the code is different tomorrow, so it cannot be used to recognise you on a later visit, and it means nothing on any other website.

If you sign in to the customer support area, a cookie remembers that you have done so for thirty days, so you are not asked for the password on every page. It holds no personal information. Our staff's sign-in to the private part of the website uses cookies in the same way.

If you add products to the cart, that list is saved in your own browser’s storage so it is still there if you reload the page. It stays on your device, it is never sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it.

7. Who we share your data with

We do not share your personal data with any outside source.

A small number of service providers necessarily handle it on our behalf: the company that hosts this website, which records ordinary request information such as IP addresses in order to serve pages and keep the site secure; the email delivery service that sends us the messages the forms generate, and our email provider, which stores them; Stripe, who process payments; and the provider that hosts the database holding our order records, the enquiries sent through the forms, the record of started checkouts, the page counts and our staff sign-ins. None of them uses your information for its own purposes.

8. How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and demo bookings for as long as we need them to serve you and to keep ordinary business records. You can ask us to delete yours at any time. Order records are kept longer, as set out in section 3, because we are required to keep them. The record of a started checkout that was never paid is kept as part of our ordinary business records; if it holds your email address because we sent you a reminder, you can ask us to delete it at any time. The page counts described in section 6 are kept in detail for ninety days, after which only the daily totals per page remain, and those identify nobody.

9. Your rights over your data

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it. Write to sales@start-manager.com or call 1-800-674-9320 and we will respond. This does not include information we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

10. Links to other websites

This website links to our customer web portal and to our social media pages. Once you follow a link, the privacy policy of that website applies instead of this one.

11. Data sharing for text messages from 1-800-674-9320

• Customer data is not shared with 3rd parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
• Mobile opt-in and consent are never shared with anyone for any purpose. Any information sharing that may be mentioned elsewhere in this policy excludes mobile opt-in data.

Messaging Terms and Conditions

• By providing your phone number and agreeing to receive texts, you consent to receive text messages from Start-Manager Inc., from 1-800-674-9320 regarding account notifications. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time or HELP for assistance. If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
